We Whistle While We Work

They Anomaly elves are busy bakers tonight. No, really, they are busy BAKERS! Each year 'round this time, we try to figure out what our distributors might enjoy as a holiday gift. Last year it was iTunes gift certificates. The year before, chocolate. On Monday, as we began discussing the top, Seth and Gerich had a gleam in their eyes. "Something homemade" was their suggestion. Yikes was my thought! We bantered about various ideas - what would ship well, what would they enjoy, what could we make? Tonight, all of us, Gerich, Seth, Mark, me & Steve were in our kitchens baking various cookies which we will ship overnight tomorrow to our twenty - yes TWENTY distributors. Want to guess? Yes, that's about 120 cookies per baker given the size of the box Gerich found online! It's 9 pm and Steve and I just finished our double batch of chocolate chip cookies. We thought it'd be fun to post our recipes here, so to start, here's ours - which came from a contest the San Francisco Chronicle had for the best chocolate chip cookie recipe about 15 years ago! It is truly time-tested and I swear by these cookies - they really are the best! Chantico.

The Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/2 cup (1 cube) margarine
1/2 cup (1 cube) butter
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
18-24 oz. chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnut (optional)

Preheat oven to 325 and line baking pans with parchment paper. Cream margarine and butter until light. Beat in vanilla and eggs until smooth. Mix together flour, soda and salt, but do not sift; beat into batter. Add the chocolate chips and nuts and mix thoroughtly. Drop onto lined cookie sheets. Bake 10-15 minutes or until just beginning to brown on top and edges. Makes 60 cookies.
