Anomaly Vineyards

A Berkeley, California transplant's view of becoming an Accidental Vintner.

All Grapes Are Not Created Equal

They may look the same at first glance, but upon closer examination, there are smaller ones and, by gosh, even green ones. This is definately not okay. Although you may think a cluster of grapes is, well, a cluster of grapes, all grapes are not created equal. If allowed to stay on for the duration, these less mature "berries" may affect the taste and quality of the wine. So, what to do, what to do, as the Alice's White Rabbit might exclaim. As we walk through the vineyards now, almost daily, when we spot a small green grape amongst the deep purple ones, we remove it, as we do with the small green clusters of grapes that have not matured at the same pace as the larger clusters. One more step in the process as we grow closer and closer to harvest! Chantico.
